Our Wedding {June 2022}
How has it already been two months since the most special day?
As I sit to write this, I truly don’t know where to begin. There are so many people to thank for making our day as perfect as it was, from family to vendors, everyone played a huge roll in pulling this off. I’m so excited to share all the photos and details from our wedding so let’s dive right in!
I spent the night before at the Bond Bed & Breakfast, which is where I and all of my bridesmaids got ready the morning of the wedding. Mitchell and I had actually stayed here during Covid for like, 7 weeks! It was so special to be able to have them be a part of our wedding and the owners, Corey and Mark, are the sweetest and made the whole morning perfect!
Hair and makeup came to us so we could all get ready together at the Bond. We were able to relax, listen to music, and have the delicious breakfast and lunch that they had prepared for us. The girls at Love, Johnny & June made sure we all looked perfect! They could not have done a better job, everyone was so happy with the way their hair and makeup turned out. Meanwhile, the guys rolled out of bed, played spike ball and drank before getting ready😂 Classic right?
We opted to do a first look. If you are on the fence about if a first look is right for you, take this as your sign to do it! A lot of the reasons you hear to do one are that you’ll have more time for photos, you’ll be able to get them done before the ceremony and enjoy your cocktail hour. Don't get me wrong, those were the huge reasons we considered when deciding if we wanted to do one or not. But more than that, it takes away the nerves. I am not someone who likes to be the center of attention (why do I share photos of myself online I don’t know), but I really don’t like to have all eyes on me. So the thought of having such an intimate moment be watched by a couple hundred people did not sound fun to me. So we chose to do it alone, and it was a great decision. We got to get the nerves out of the way and just enjoy the day together. We rode to our venue together with our wedding party, we sat and talked with them at the venue, had cocktails together before heading to the ceremony. It was perfect. It didn’t make walking down the aisle any less special, it was still a big emotional moment. I think it was definitely the right call for us.
After the ceremony, the night flew by. We were showered in beautiful speeches from our loved ones that I will never forget. It was such a surreal feeling to look around and see our wedding, exactly as I’d planned for nearly two years. Down to the details, everything was perfect.
If you think, like I did, that an outdoor tent wedding would be an easy wedding option, then you would be wrong. Where is the tent going to be placed? You’re going to want lighting, but what kind? Did you think about a generator? Oh, and what about the extra tent you need for catering? When I got the initial invoice from our rental company, my head was spinning. Line item after line item, and I didn’t know what 90% of them meant. I knew right then that we needed a wedding planner. We hired Heather Davidson Adkins and we couldn’t have made a better decision. Not only did she take all of the difficult things off of our plate, but we had so much fun working with her! It was like having a friend to work with throughout the whole process, I can’t say enough good things! We could not have had the wedding we did without her.
The night was spent dancing, singing, catching up with friends and loved ones. It was perfect. I could go on and on about the details of the night, but I will let the photos do the talking. Our photographers, Nicole Gatto and her husband, were a dream team. They captured all of the emotion of the day and were so fun to work with! I will let their amazing images do the talking.
