Make the Most of Your Time at Home
We are on day 40 of staying at home, and this week in particular has been noticeably harder than the others.
It can be tough not to get down about the current situation. I’d love nothing more than to be back in the city, working and spending the weekends at my favorite brunch spots. But for the time being, I am working hard to keep myself busy at home. Here are some things that I am doing to make the most of this free time that I have:
Learn a new skill
Or in my case, re-teach yourself an old skill. I have been spending some time each day to play the piano and teach myself old songs I used to know. I played piano for about 10 years before going to college. With all of this time on my hands I’ve been trying to regain a skill that I loved having for so long. Take this time to learn a new craft, you’ll have a lot of fun getting creative.
Get Organized
I have been doing a lot of organizing throughout the house. Yesterday I tackled our “office”/storage closet and it was so satisfying. We had ordered a bunch of Container Store products to use for this particular room, but it could also be done without spending any money. Use some extra bins you have lying around the house, take everything out of the space you’re working in and categorize. You’ll feel such a sense of accomplishment once you’re done.
Play With Your Style
Now is the perfect time to mess around with your style. Try out some pieces you’ve been eyeing but have been too nervous to try. If you don’t like it, no one will see! Have fun with it.
Meet Up With Friends and Family… Virtually of Course
Every Friday for the last few weeks, we have been having Trivia Night with our friends on Zoom. Each week one person will make their own game for us to play. It gets super competitive and a lot of fun. Gives us something to look froward to each week!
