To Splurge or to Save?
I will be the first to admit that I love really nice things.
I can scroll through luxury fashion websites for hours picking out all of the things I want to save up for. But I know as a college student, splurging on these items now will do me no favors. While I know there are certain items you just can’t replace, there are some items I love that I know I can find a great replacement for. So what items do I want to save for and what items am I willing to splurge on the knockoff?
Dior Saddle Bag
This is one that I will (unfortunately) be saving for, for a very…very long time. There is absolutely nothing like it and I know once I save for it, I will be so happy that I did. This one is definitely a save.
Hermes Sandals
You have probably seen the Hermes Oran Sandals in the summer before. They are a great sandal, but are they worth the money? At $650, I definitely looked for some good dupes. Last summer I bought the Steve Madden Greece Slide which was a similar style for a fraction of the price. I wore them a ton and got a lot of mileage out of them and after one summer, they’re looking a little rough (I guess that’s part of the price of the Hermes ones). This year I’ve found another dupe that people are raving about, the KAANAS Santorini Infinity Sandal. At $110, these aren’t nearly as expensive as the Hermes ones but better quality than the Steve Madden ones so hopefully would last longer. I would definitely splurge on these knockoffs.
Gucci Belt
I have wanted the Gucci belt for a few year now. This is definitely one that is one my save list as well. I think that this belt will always be in style. You can wear it with nearly anything and it elevates any look.
The Row’s Nude Strappy Sandals
These sandals are everywhere. They are a huge trend for this season, but will it last? I’m definitely not willing to invest in a piece that is only going to be popular for this season. The Row’s version are $790, and these dupes I found at Zara are $50. Definitely going with the Zara version.
Staud Shirley Bag
This is a bag that I saw last summer and wanted to see if I still liked it after a few months because it’s so different. I still love it and it’s not as expensive as other bags so I will definitely be saving for this one.
