New Years in Montreal
Welcome 2019!
Like I shared before, my family decided to head to Montreal to ring in 2019! We pretty much went with no plan other than where we were staying and decided what to do as we went. And we had a great time! Here’s my guide to what we enjoyed in Montreal.
Fairmont Queen Elizabeth
We stayed at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth for three nights and loved it. They had a great pool and fitness area that we visited almost every day either to workout or take my cousins swimming. They have a café, Kréma, where we were able to grab drinks before heading out into the cold each morning. They also had a market, Artisans, that was stocked with delicious snacks. We decided to stay in for their breakfast buffet the first morning and it was delicious. They had so many options, even gluten free which was perfect since we were traveling with two people who have celiac disease.
Food
While exploring the city, we stumbled upon Le Marquis an all gluten free café. We of course had to stop in since those are hard to come by and it was fantastic! They’re hot chocolate was so rich and everyone loved the pastries. We ate at two different French restaurants for dinner, both very good, Leméac and Restaurant Holder. We also visited the Jean-Talon Market and picked up some different cheeses, meats and nuts for watching the ball drop on New Years Eve.
Attractions
Walking down by the ports, we stopped at the Ferris wheel for nice views of the city. We spent most of our time in Old Montreal, which is packed with cute stores and restaurants. We did a morning trip to the Notre Dame Basilica to avoid the lines which worked out perfectly.
